I’ve found eggnog to be an extremely polarizing force. Ok I know that sounds strange, but here’s what I mean: People seem to either LOVE eggnog or HATE eggnog. And they feel very vehemently about it. There doesn’t appear to be a middle ground on this one. I have yet to meet an eggnog moderate. As for me:
I love eggnog.
I love pound cake.
Rum is tasty too.
So I kinda I feel like I have a real Christmas desert winner here. Which is a really good thing, because with three separate Christmas celebrations with just family (plus there are Christmas parties too right?) I need a lot of cake. And who wants to be boring and repeat the same cake three times right?
I have to admit if your an eggnog hater this cake isn’t for you because this cake really really tastes like yummy eggnog with a hint of rum. (Eggnog haters I promise to create a fantastic chocolate desert for you soon!) This cake is all eggnog in buttery pound cake form, rich and dense. Then we have a sweet butter rum glaze which adds moisture and just the right amount of rum to the cake. And we finish it off with an eggnog icing adding that sweet finish (gotta have the eggnog twice to make it double eggnog right?).
Plus there is the added benefit that the cake is just pretty and festive. Couldn’t you picture it on a table set in whites and golds? :::sigh::: Certainly Christmas party worthy as well. I guarantee you’ll be a major hit if you bring this cake along!
I haven’t 100% worked out my logistics but I’m pretty sure I’m bringing this cake along to at least one Christmas party this year and it might show up on Christmas eve as well. Annyyywayy go make this cake already!
