I was blessed enough to have an absolutely lovely wedding. And I was only a little bit of a bridezilla… I think. I hope my Mom, the person who had to put up with me the most during planning agrees with me. (One way or the other I’m so glad my Mom loves me enough to put up with my spaz moments.)
I’m just saying, weddings get people a little crazy. Maybe not the scenario that brings out the best in a stressed out, type A, can be a bit of a perfectionist personalities. There are so many details to figure out. And it seems like as soon as you cross off one thing off your list twenty more pop up. Plus there is a bunch of other stuff surrounding the wedding that require planning too. Like rehearsal dinners. What’s up with that??
Actually I got super lucky on that one too. My mother-in-law graciously planned a lovely dinner at Carrabba’s Italian Grill for 30 or so people! We had a beautiful rehearsal dinner which I didn’t even have to think about. The food was great. And I discovered what is perhaps my favorite Carrabba’s thing of all time. Carrabba’s Red Sangria! It’s the little undertone of cinnamon that just makes it sing for me.
It just so happens I have a ‘secret source’ who worked as a Carrabba’s bartender for a few years that helped me out with this one, so I actually have a “copycat” recipe to share with you that I’m pretty sure is on the money.
I have to admit that I have no clue if Carrabba’s sangria is actually authentic Italian at all, but who cares? Sangria with cinnamon! So, let’s all go make a batch and enjoy.

The real recipe for Carrabba’s wonderful red sangria!
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Total Time: 5 minutes
- Yield: 6 servings 1x
Ingredients
- One 750 ml. bottle of dry red table wine
- 8 oz. orange juice
- 3–4 oz. Monin Red Sangria Syrup
- 3–4 oz. Korbel Brandy
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
1. Add all items to a large pitcher and mix well. Adjust Monin, Brandy, and Cinnamon to taste. Allow the mixture to sit refrigerated overnight.
2. Sever cold over ice, with orange wedges and cinnamon sticks for garnish if desired.
Love this! But can’t find the Monin sangria mix anywhere… I need it for tomorrow and checked all the liquor stores, grocery stores, specialty stores. Lol
Any ideas for a good substitute or can we do without and extra squeeze fresh fruits?
Thanks!!
Did you see any Monin blackberry? It makes for a different flavor but good substitute. Though if you do use blackberry syrup substitute cranberry juice for the orange.
If you want to go for fruit try a mix of cherry, lime, and orange. Mostly oranges. Smoosh em up and add em to you mix. Maybe add a touch of sugar as well because the monin syrups are definitely sweet. Go slow with the sugar and add to taste.
Hope this helps!
Yum! Tastes just like what you get at Carrabba’s
