Alright pumpkin spice, I know you’ve been waiting patiently all summer to make your appearance. I love you and you’ve been great in my latte, but you have to stop hogging the stage….there are other fall flavors!
Here is a great recipe for a cozy fall night by the fire that screams AUTUMN. It starts with our homemade pizza dough, then layered with warm apples, melty Gouda, honey and sage! (And don’t worry, you can have a pumpkin spice something for dessert.)

Ingredients

- 1 lb homemade pizza dough (see link above for pizza dough recipe)
- 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 red onion, sliced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
- 1 honey crisp apple, thinly sliced
- 7 oz smoked gouda cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 5–6 sage leaves, chopped or chiffonaded
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450*F degrees and roll out the dough to desired thickness, place on pizza pan or stone.
- Saute the red onion in a pan until soft, then add the garlic and cook for an additional minute. Remove from the heat.
- Mix honey and 1 tablespoon olive oil and spread on the dough.
- Sprinkle half the gouda cheese over the dough and top with half of the apple slices. Repeat with the remaining gouda and apples. Then finish with a sprinkle of the parmesan cheese, bacon and sage leaves.
- Bake for 12 minutes, or until the crust is cooked to your desired crispness.
